  • Murray, you could get a cheap toaster oven and put it in the shop for this purpose.

  • @helicrashpro That's a great idea, but the way that the shop is set up it would be cumbersome to have a small toaster in that area. Thanks for the input!

  • Does the knife get its hold from the blade or handle material and handle profile to give it that snap when it goes to home position?Lets say some1 bought a Carter neck knife 10 years ago and uses it daily. The profile is starting to become a little thinner and a little shorter from many, many sharpenings over the years. Could you use a heat gun on the sheath and re-press it for a fresh more secure custom fit after that much time has elapsed and that much material removed from the knife?

  • Very cool, thank you!!!

  • Great job with this video. I learned a lot!

  • @darkarchon777 Heat it until it becomes pliable. A standard heat gun should work, perhaps even a blow dryer if you're in a desperate situation.

  • how many watts do you recommend for forming kydex ?

  • Thanks for the walk-thru. I was about to dish out a pretty penny to have some sheaths made for my leatherman & survival knife but I think I'll do a little DIY & see if I'm happy with the results. Cheers!

  • That's exactly how I felt when I started. Hmmmm....

  • Wonderful lesson, brother. Congratulations!
