Dr. Aubrey de Grey is Chairman and Chief Science Officer of The Methuselah Foundation. His major research interests are the role and etiology of all forms of cellular and molecular damage in mammalian aging, and the design of interventions to reverse the age-related accumulation of such damage. He has published extensively on these and other areas of gerontology, and is also Editor-in-Chief of the high-impact journal Rejuvenation Research, the only peer-reviewed academic journal focusing on intervention in aging.

He has formulated a wide-ranging plan for the comprehensive and eventually indefinite postponement of age-related physical and mental decline, named SENS (Strategies for Engineered Negligible Senescence). He is the organiser of an ongoing series of conferences and workshops that focus on the key biomedical research relevant to SENS, and he also oversees the Methuselah Foundation's growing sponsorship of SENS research worldwide.

  • So true. People have such stupid reasons for not wanting to try to defeat aging. Even if there is a less than 1% chance that we will find a cure for aging in the next 50 years we should still go for it. Death just sucks too much not to. I don't see how everyone doesn't realize this. I'm sure a lot of it has to do with people believing there is an afterlife. 1 more reason why religion is terrible. It hinders research. God damn it.

  • Well done doctor.

  • We'll finally get rid of that old death tax. Also this is the prime example of why we should get rid of universal healthcare and communism. I mean if they controlled the patents and kept the technology really expensive, think about how motivated the lazy masses would be to finally pull themselves up by their bootstraps.

  • No study or scientific research can proof or exclude the existency of soul and afterlife... but as my grandma always says: "if you leave the old path for the new one, you know what you leave and you don't know what you get".

Soul or no soul, afterlife or no afterlife, living is the only path we are certain of, and, also being ageing defintely not fun, I am with Dr. de Grey on this one! I am going to try to stay on the "old path" of being alive rather then taking chances on the afterlife!

  • @janko1212 Ok then good luck to you and live long life!

  • @teo1000t

No offense...im just surprised u prefer to deny the truth and rather believe whatever suits u and calms u down. Ok well like i said..believe whatever you want. U dont have to delete any posts...this is not my video.

  • @janko1212 Mickey Mouse has nothing to do with it! Please don't reply back with your thoughts! If you want i can delete my comments here but don't try to insert your thoughts to change mine!

  • @teo1000t

Those are facts. Im not trying to convince you. Im just saying than believing in soul and other religious nonsense is just as rediculus as believing in fairy tales. But hey...if it makes u happier than believe in Mickey Mouse.

  • @janko1212 You won't be able to convince my mind! Please lets don't argue further! You must understand that every person has its own beliefs!

  • @teo1000t

Hehe. Its not about opinion. ITS ABOUT TRUTH. I follow the evidence becouse i want to know the truth. You on the other hand dont want to hear opposing opinion so you prefer to retreat in the world of immagination. Whatever suits u best but do some reasearch on theory of consciousness and u will see there is no such thing as soul so better enjoy this life until it lasts. There is no afterlife 100%

  • @janko1212 you think technology has reached its peak? It soon will unlock the soul essence just like molecules and atoms before! But lets not argue further! I have my opinion you have yours!

  • @teo1000t

No there dont have to be any spiritual mumbo jumbo. I know you and many others would like it to be that way becouse its conforting but unfortunatelly its not true. This is how it seems to you however thats not correct. Science shows there is no afterlife, experiments shows there is no afterlife neurology shows there is no afterlife....only wishfull thinking implies afterlife...do some more research if u dont believe me.
