PMAGs and the SCAR 16S: Prevent damage to your rifle

PMAGs can damage SCAR 16S rifles if they aren't modified to fit the profile of a standard STANAG AR15 magazine. The PMAG that is unmodified will push the bolt hold up all the time causing it to stay in contact with the bolt/carrier of the SCAR 16S which in turn causes damage to the rifle. You can quickly and easily modify PMAGs to work with the SCAR 16S and I show you how to do this in the video.

@dimmddr1 Yes. However the new PMAG 30 M3 will resolve this issue for the SCAR.

First off - Great channel.  I had been in the market for a .308 rifle and your SCAR 17s video convinced me to break the bank and buy one. Worth EVERY penny.

Q: Have you modified a pmag for the 17 yet? Seen a couple videos but am waiting on an expert's opinion. Thanks.

@roninracing88 I've not attempted the modification. It might be one of those winter projects though because it does seem interesting. I guess I've been holding out for PMAG just to make one for the SCAR.

@altops It's metal, but it's super thin, there's nothing to work with in terms of shaving material off. If you looked at one, you would see what I was talking about.

@altops That would be a bad idea. The bolt hold sets purposely to the side and not centered in the magazine well. If you removed any material from the bolt hold device, you would destroy it. Given spare parts aren't easy to come by for the SCAR, you would be in a bit of a pickle.

So it turns out that Magpul is addressing this problem by coming out with new magazines. Just a Little pissed that i didn't wait to buy new pmags for my SCAR.

@milocat2121 Your weapon is less prone to malfunctions, window makes it easy to see how many rounds you have left, a lot more durable (I ran one over with a HMVEE) and if you shove it in your back pocket and sit on it it doesn't cut your ass up.
