Be a better leader and more pragmatic leader than your predecessor.
Instead of stepping down,try this: start/continue negotiations with your neighbor without any conditions, but insert your "conditions" into the negotiations.
You know what former Israeli PM Golda Meir once said ? "It is better to have a state with problems than problems without a state !"
How about a Palestinian State with (some unavoidable) problems ? Right now your people has very little ...
