This version of this song sounded familiar and it took me a second, but its an Aretha Franklin version that Duane Allman played slide on. The first few notes of the slide on each verse-just like Duane played- and Susan's vocal is much like Aretha's. Its on the Duane Allman Anthology 1st album circa....hmmm 1974 ish. Cool FYI

@bayouhazard I'm 30 years and running here myself, my friend. Since sneaking into clubs in Chicago to see Buddy guy as a teenager, I have spent a lifetime following roots music. After 20 years of Jazz Fests, I am convinced that there is no comparable place on Earth than New Orleans, or time of year than Jazz Fest for artists to bring everything they have in their soul and leave it on stage. The result is more incredible blissed out musical moments in 3 days than you can get in a lifetime.

guess this was before the oil spill man

Classic tune.
"I got to go but my friend can stick around."
Love it.

She sounds a like Joan Osborne.....IMHO

They did what I thought was their best version at the '07 New Orleans Jazz Festival, with Warren Haynes and the Allman Brothers band. You could almost walk a tightrope with those notes, as sharp as they were. By the way this is "The Weight", by the Band

This absolutely blows my mind!! The greatest musicians alive, surely???

"Does any one comment on Derek's butt"? No but he doesn't wear pants like that either. It ok to window shop people. She is a western woman. She dresses the part. We are western men and we act the part... along with a large dose of culturally imposed sexual repressions in the face of constant temptation. We're all a bunch of horny bastards. Always strive to be good to each other, but we would be better off to be a little more of ourselves, and for that to be OK.
she has a big bottom - A+!

The encore of one of the best shows I've ever seen and I've been a live music junkie for over 30 years. The energy in that tent was electric. This was the last set in the blues tent on the last day of Jazz Fest 08. They weren't planning on doing an encore. You could see Derek wave it off and they all went into a trailer. People must've clapped for 5 minutes SOLID with the sense that they couldn't waver. Never heard anything like it. The music Gods were smiling as always at JF
