Iris is the first person to arrive at the church, and, sitting alone, she recalls her relationship with Mac, moments they shared through the various ages and stages of Iris's life. Vivien arrives, and Iris asks Vivien to sit with her, because Vivien is part of her family. Vivien asks how it went at the Corys', and Iris replies that she wasn't wanted there, even today. Others begin to file into the church as Iris and Vivien talk. Vivien tells Iris that she likes Iris. Iris wonders why, and Vivien replies that Iris does the best she can, and she's a great boss. Iris asks if she's as good a boss as Mac was, and Vivien says yes. Iris thinks Vivien is just telling Iris what she wants to hear, but Vivien assures Iris that she's sincere, and adds that she wouldn't work for anybody else, and that she considers Iris her friend and not just her boss.
We saw those exact same flashbacks with Mac after Iris confessed that she was the chief.
