@tucsonronb ...The only pool we could use was at Camp Sakai, Japan. Next door was the NCO Club which had outdoor speakers from the jukebox inside. This song was played almost every other time. Music is a time machine that only goes backward...I love it.

This was the #1 song on the Billboard charts on the day I was born. Frankly, I really don't think it's all that great. And, it stayed in the #1 spot for 10 weeks?!!

In the mid 1950's I was working in Tokyo One of our favorite night stops was the Latin Quarter Al Shattuck and his wife Doris were the managers the band was Nobu Hara and his Sharps and Flats a very talented group Their rendition of Cherry Pink was a huge hit Rarely did they play a set without this stirring tune And we customers loved it
