Not that I would be forgetting you Channel 4 trade test enthusiasts out there; well, this is the very first such tape which appeared on the channel since its inception in 1982 and was replaced in 1984 by a virtually classical tape entitled Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto, which included tracks from BBC2 tape Butterfly as well as Shadow Line, which was the extended version of the seventh track from Kung Flute. This tape had, by the way, included a track which was used at the time for the Take Hart gallery, entitled Margherita by Bob Morgan.

  • Those were the days. Playing games on my Spectrum, listening to synth tunes over the Channel 4 test card, drooling over Carol Vorderman. Well, some things never change.

  • Isn't the human brain brill - to think I have not heard these for over 26years and can remenmber them as if they were in the charts. Great. Well done!

  • The duty office at C4 used to send me copies of their cue sheets so I could find similar recordings. Still have them somewhere.

  • @daley19945 That is really cool! I'm in Eastbourne, but back in the mid 80s just my sister lived here and I remember her getting an early cable tv thing on a local trial basis, which I thought was ace because it mean't we could watch MTV when we visited!

  • Good grief! I remember this firstly before Channel 4 started each morning at 6.00!

  • I remember envying my relations in London because they could get Channel 4 right from the start. We had to wait nearly a year in Eastbourne. I rushed out asnd bought a portable telly and listened to the tapes all the way through. The image of the testcard was literally burnt into the screen by the end !!

  • who is the author of the second track?

  • love it test card looks like a face of robot who knew channel 4 had test cards too

  • Lets face it this is better than most daytime telly.

  • 3:12 - WICKED INTRO!

  • I remember one song on this always reminded me of Rocky, #LOL. Jeez, I was 9-11 years old.

  • @jaybee66 The sinclair specturm, what a gaming machine!!! and to this the file size of one of them games is less than a 2 page word document!!
