Ole Thompson joined Wild Ginger as Wine Director in 2003. He came on board with a singular challenge; to develop a wine program to match the variety and complexity of our food. Over the past five years Ole has worked tirelessly to expand our cellar, reinvent our service, and delight our guests. Named Sommelier of the Year in 2008 by the Washington Wine Commission, Ole's gift for pairing wine with food has been well established, but his contributions go well beyond the conventional role of a Wine Director. In 2003 he spearheaded Washington's most unique wine event, the award winning Triple Sip. This event, now a yearly tradition, rocked the standard notions of a wine dinner by combining live music with a super-elite tasting. Never one to miss an opportunity, Ole was also one of the first to offer premium wines by the glass by utilizing argon preservation technology. In fact, our new restaurant at The Bravern will feature 35 different glass pours that use this system.
