Providence, Rhode Island painter Jacqueline Ott's paintings are about developing patterns, creating systems, and discovering small variations within a disciplined, obsessive process.
Ott received an MFA from the Rhode Island School of Design and a BFA from Philadelphia College of Art. She has exhibited extensively in the Northeast at the Miller Block Gallery, Boston, Massachusetts; the Danforth Museum of Art, Danforth, Massachusetts; risd/works, Providence, Rhode Island; and the Bernard Toale Gallery in Boston, Massachusetts among many others. She has received grants from the Rhode Island State Council for the Arts, the New York Foundation for the Arts and the National Endowment for the Arts. Her work is in numerous collections, including those of the Newport Art Museum and the Rhode Island School of Design Museum.

I have been working with the pencil all of my life and always am excited to see when someone goes beyond the limitations of their tools i.e.the richness of contrast and color depth that you have conquered. I'm sure witnessing these pieces live would be a better experience although even at this video resolution they work. There is something compelling about stark titanium white studio walls against the ivory pigmented paper and graphite marks.......Timothy
