why does everyone think Kurtz is insane? He sees that you should do the most efficient thing to achieve your goal, weather it's hard or not. He has the will to finish the war. His methods were winning remember!

It's like Truman dropping the nuke. He saved many lives, by killing hundreds of thousands of women and kids. It was good, but most people would not do it, due to their judgment and morals.

@Manzeron Haha!! They do look alike.. Sawyer even refers to him as Colonel Kurtz at one point in the series. "Do you mind telling us who you're taking your orders from Colonel Kurtz?" (season 4 i think).... I'm a Lost fanatic.

Oh my God...I'm beginning to think a certain Norwegian psycopath might just have gone "Kurtz"-style in "piling up his own bunch of childrens hacked-off arms" if you get my drift.

I hate to think, that this ANTI-WAR(!) movie, and its' so incredibly well-performed act by the late Marlon Brando as a psychotic-mad "Colonel Kurtz" might just have been a very central inspiration for the recent Norwegian atrocities in which a clearly mentally deranged guy has slaughtered whole bunches of children...
