  • the real super fighters of that era were the 109 and spitfire; p51's thou had good capabilities and were mass produced, like 5:1 over the 109s, the real sumo fighter of its time was the 109, the ponies only could bring down the messies when out number 3:1 or destroy them when the were grounded .

  • This is one NICE plane!Cool video!

  • this guy is a good pilot.

  • those are some serious manuevers!

  • @eloidor true. me 109 was real agile. its only failure was its low operational area. that is one of the reasons why britan won the battle of britania. me was orginaly sopposed to be inteseptor.

  • ME GUSTAV

  • that was warfare. No mas distruction by clicking on a butten but man vs man

  • Best 2 minutes I have spent in a while!

    The audio is terrific !!!

    Short and sweet baby!

Isn't it interesting that present day pilots with huge amounts of warbird time are singing the praises to the inverted Db-605 powered Bf-109's!

Looks like the are going to have to revise the military history books again.

    JG-52 / JG-54 was no myth.

Minimal pilot training and low octane petrol helped to diminish the wonderful qualities of this great fighter.

  • @eloidor

I agree the P-51 is ovehyped, however it was competive with german fighters out there and even had a couple of advantages (as did the Fw-190/Bf-109) with a skilled pilot was deadly. The Pilots would in the end be the determining factor of the outcome. Regarding pilot skill: The training and skill level of the average German pilot fell rapidly from early 1944 and towards the end. and there was no possible way to recover from this downward spiral in the time/conditions available.

  • Hahnweide 2005.

  • Correct! people take the stats from the post war Avia S-199 with the Jumo 211 engine, which had very bad handeling, and apply these stats to the ww2 German machines! In intervews and books with the pilots that flew them, this was not the case at all. The german 109s were far better than the Avia and the Buchon. Yet another example of false propaganda. Aprox 5% were destroyed, not 33%. The spit/p-51 has simular stats.
