A follow-up to my XS sights review. I found XS didn't work well for me in low light or at extended ranges, but these were just what the doctor ordered.

  • Who does the opening song my cold dead hands?

  • @mntbikerz The music is a free clip that comes with Apple's iLife suite. I overlaid Charlton Heston's voice by stripping the audio from a YouTube video of an NRA annual meeting.

  • You've gone from one end of the Rainbow all the way to the other !

    Comparing the almost worthless XS Big or not so Big Dots to Hilton's doesn't do the 10-8's justice. His "U"-Notch is an exc. enhancement, plus he offers different notch-widths, fine-line serrations, both front & rear, hardened steel bodies and {as you mentioned} one of the few who offer brass-bead fronts.

  • @MaineShag55 I know, right? Ha! The more shooting you do, and the more serious you are about it, the quicker you see through the marketing hype and and faster you drive your gear to failure- and then get the truly good stuff. I'm just glad I've had the opportunity to really test stuff and not be a marketing puppet.

  • So, would you say, having used tritium sights with a weapon light, that night sights are superfluous if you're running a light of some kind? I've always thought that night sights are certainly better than regular sights and no light of any kind, but night sights don't identify your target either, so not only do you have to determine the intentions of your would-be attacker based on non-visual indicators, but also their location. This is why I at least carry a flashlight if nothing else.

  • @wcropp1 I don't want to say night sights are "superfluous". I mean, some guys carry backup lights, a second magazine, or even a BUG. If Brownells had these same sights with the tritium front post when I ordered, guess what I'd have now- LOL. I guess my answer is, I'll never say "no" to tritium sights but I'll never say "no" to the right gun just because it lacks 'em. Light mounting options are rarer on revolvers, so in that case, and for varying light levels (e.g. dusk), I'd still want tritium.

    @floatingaxehead :

    You've just about paralleled how it was that personally "arrived" at 10-8's

    sights ! Via a process of elimination. {includes, as you know, the elimination of $, too!}

    Trial & Error over "hype" but at least some of the people in the business are really trying

    to put the best products out there & tweak them if & when needed !

  • I went from XS to 10-8 sights as well...big difference where I was able to place my shots. Good Review, hope to see you post more...

  • Hope all is going great Bro! Miss the pod cast

  • Great video, you should use that Porsche of yours as a background!
