Nationals bid to push its 90-day bill through under urgency this week is a disgraceful attack on both workers rights and on democracy. Green Party Industrial Relations Spokesperson Sue Bradford says legislation of this significance should go through the full select committee process.

  • Totally disagree you should be able to test drive a employee before you hire him, if he talks well at a interview but them proves to be useless or worse dangerous, see you later.

  • Sue's comments on why this bill should have gone through select committee review are right on the money. I could have done with less of the playing on emotions, but her points stand to reason.

  • I DIsagree the rules...

  • @strainedcalf1 That might be ok in theory, but there is nothing to stop an unfair dismissal of an employee. Somebody shouldn't be fired without a good reason, it could mean that their whole lives and financial affairs could be sent into chaos, particulary if they are feeding a family or they have bills to pay, and there is nothing to stop a boss discriminating or firing somebody for personal reasons. 90 days of uncertainty is 90 days too many.

  • shes right

  • Should have gone through the select commitie

  • Couldn't agree more.
