This was me taking off in Cessna 152 with my instructor on the 30/5/2009, was the best day of my life, thanks to my Instructor Lisa who was Awesome. :)
Strange how fate lends a hand. I have just become the proud owner of a repaired altimeter.................. one that I removed from 'AA' back at the aircraft's repair in '79 and then it was repaired somewhere along the way in the mists of time and has been used as a household barometer for years!
'AA' was crashed just short of Southampton airport when a practice forced landing became a real on. This occurred when the instructor sitting rhs seat pulled back the mixture control instead of the throttle (to simulate an engine loss on finals) and it failed to restart even when the mixture was pushed back in! This was in about July 1979 as I took pictures of our repair work taking place at Southampton in November after we fitted a pair of serviceable wings, s/h engine/prop and a new screen.
Haha. funny really. this plane has been 'crashed' on its roof. I don't remember when but it was used for training and they were simulating an engine stop, but then they had the real deal. They had to emergency land and came in too fast which resultet in a flipped over plane at the end of the runway d:
