1. Gun ownership is just one of the plethora of factors that affect the crime rate. Gun ownership can deter crime but be overwhelmed in the statistics by the other factors.

2. It is crazy hard to compare crime rates between countries. The differences reporting standards and practices make it a nightmare.

3. No one is asserting that gun ownership is a complete solution to crime. People being able to defend themselves probably helps. Ending the drug war would help immensely.

A few years ago I had sexual relationship with a woman whose husband was in a wheelchair & unable to make love. He knew & approved, saying she needed the periodic physical release.

Then one day he first asked if he could ‘observe’ us in action (yuk!), then complained she was “enjoying it too much”. He started whingeing about how it made him feel inadequate- but I just walked out, telling him to save it for his counsellor. I’ve no time for that kind of nonsense. Dickhead!
