Lyrics:
from my days as a tike, tried to defy gravity
only to land on cloud strife, final fantasy
they say skies the limit, but try as i did
it seems trials and tribulations keep trying my persistence
tryna make a difference, in this crazed world
but the past follows you like my name earl
so what good is packing up and leaving mamas house
if she still living where rappers rhyme about
pursuant of that white picket fence, we're bending back
no extended hands write us checks on pen and pads
when i feel like woe is me and my words sincere
use my poetry as a reminder to persevere
thru the roadblocks constructed by robots
i tell them so long, i'm so gone
this is my life over beats flowing
breach the constraints of a 16 and keep goin
redefining what the hustle is
its more than getting paid everyday i'm hustling
every project i'm promising something sick
keep my head in clouds if the sun ain't up again

count the stars as they shoot past
that's inspiration i use as fuel to move fast
for this, no fancy hooks or novelties
just the truth i use to bless this beat properly
been asked why i do this, no money to be made,
you gotta match an image in order to get played
but i rhyme words cuz words rhyme together
with power to effect minds forever
use to scribble verses, a student in detention
thought i had shit to say, use music as a weapon
but my iPod, all black, with crack white powder,
gangsta lyrics wired from my trousers
to my earbuds, chillin in la mission
listen to my favorite revolutionaries singing songs
i wanna be like them, then someone pointed out
I couldn't, cuz we weren't like-skinned
what a foolish dream, yea u sounding hard
but you might as well keep counting stars
cuz with no money, there's no purpose
and without marketability you're pretty much worthless
but mainstream hip hop i wouldn't show my children
my demographic is anyone who'll listen
if this a dream, i suppose i'll keep dreaming
but at least now you know the reason
