commentator says "you didn't see it in Barcelona cause it's a gymnastics neutral country". Seriously? the atlanta crowd was the most noisy and annoying crowd in gymnastics history. in Beijing 2008 team china won gold with some incredible performances and yes, the chinese audience was cheering for them but they were actually paying attention and clapping for each and every gymnast!

@GymFloozie Dawes had a way better chance of winning than Shannon anyway. Even if Shannon had hit floor and vault Lilia would have cruised past her with her 9.887 on floor. Dawes would have been closer.

@GymFloozie He also sounds akward because her has a the world's camera's on him and he has to appear to know how to deal with a distraught gymnast. He always came across and obnoxious. I remember in 1993 the BBC commentators said how nice Kelli Hill was because she knew the gymnast was the important one. And everyone knew it was a big dig at Steve Nunno. It was said during the bars final but only the Eurosport coverage seems to be on here. Pity Mitch Fenner and Barry Davies ruled commentry.

Actually I think Steve sounded fairly rough with Shannon a lot of the time. He knew how to handle her. You couldn't just wind Shannon up and turn her loose. She needed a lot of watching and maintenance. And I agree - Dina was awesome on beam, and everywhere else, I think. She's one of my favorites, too.

He has a mircophone on him, he is forced to sound nice and comforting and is bad at it. I loved Kochetkova on beam, she was my favourite of this era.

Elfie threw the whammy on Shannon BIG TIME and ruined America's chance to win gold. I wish she would just SHUT HER DAMN MOUTH about all the problems a gymnast can have on their upcoming routine. I know others here disagree with me, but I believe in the transference of energy, and Elfie was FULL of negative energy.
