AM2 or PAM-quadro is a micro-fabrication system for tissue engineering developed and patented at the Interdepartmental Research Center "E. Piaggio" -- Faculty of Engineering, University of Pisa. This system is designed for the realisation of complex and three-dimensional microstructures, controlled in different features (i.e. spatial resolution, architecture, mechanical and chemical properties). A purposely designed interface allows the control of architecture through an interactive design module, or importing files from other software (i.e. xml files from other software for segmentation analysis). Different methods can be used even at the same time to process different materials (i.e. synthetic polymers, natural polymers as well as cell suspensions), to obtain a final structure which mimics Extra-Cellular Matrix (ECM) properties. Moreover this system can also be used to realise structures for other fields of application (e.g. sensors, actuators).
