Go-Go's: Behind The Music That Sucks.

While some of the jokes of this short animated parody of both the Go-Go's and VH1's Behind The Music program are chuckle-worthy (I especially like the use of Margot Kidder's head as the head of dejected bass player Margot Olivarria), overall this piece relies on fairly juvenile and pedestrian comedy to achieve it's ends. While there are numerous areas of the Go-Go's career that could easily have been prime fodder for lampooning, most do not appear here and the ones that do, are done badly.

Still, the magazine cut-out style of animation looks pretty groovy and it's cool to see the band at least appearing somewhere on the register of pop culture these days...The Simpsons it ain't, but at least it's something, and knowing the twisted and sick sense of humor that seems to prevail in the band, they most likely would find the funny in it. (Or at the very least, laugh at the Margot head joke, which is what I did.)
