I don't know why they keep saying those things. Maybe because they are true? Maverick was a western tv show. He is a farce. Senator McCain reverts to Viet Nam stories everytime that somenoe asks a question. "and that's not change we can believe in.... hehehe" little weasel laugh. He is such a pitiful human being. He doesn't know what he believes in until his handlers tell him what to say. And then he forgets and wanders around the stage. He is at least partially senile.
-
The origin of the word "Maverick" is that it was the surname of a man that did not brand his livestock, even when it was the common practice. The word has evolved today to be commonly thought of as someone who stands alone, and doesn't follow the rules.

HA! That is a sad situation, but if she is a typical racist that is in fact afraid to walk down the street with a black person, when her grandchild that she raised is black, then he has a right to say that. If my grandfather who I loved was a kleptomaniac, it would be O.K. for me to call him that, especially if it was an important social issue.

Anyone who is calling themselves a maverick should not be in office. A maverick is someone who stands alone, is independent, who doesn't agree with others or work with others. It's their way or the highway. This is a dangerous person to be running the country.
We had a reckless maverick in George Bush look where that got us. But worst yet look at Saddam Hussein, Fidel Castro, Muammar Al-Gaddafi, Kim Jung-il, and Omar al-Bashir just to name a few, all mavericks. We don't want a maverick America.

What is a maverick? Eh-hum:
mav·er·ick (mvr-k, mvrk)
n.
1. An unbranded range animal, especially a calf that has become separated from its mother, traditionally considered the property of the first person who brands it (particularly if said brander is a D.C. lobbyist.)

Yeah, this "maverick" thing is getting pretty damn old. People, it's a slang term from the 80s! Let it go!! Or at least take it to its logical conclusion and refer to Palin as "Goose".

McCain talks through his nose, in a very winnie voice. Listen you will see. If McCain had been treated like the rest of the POW's he wouldn't be able to walk or use his arms. He was injured when his plane crashed. He got special treatment and got his injuried attended to because of who his father was. the other POW's didn't medical care.
McCain = 7 houses, repeated affairs, special treatment in Viet Nam. Give me a brake. Do you think he feels he is better than the middle of lower class?

Change is change, we need change. When I buy things I get change sometime quarters and sometimes bills, but change no the less. I like to get 100 dollar bills as change. But my favorite change I save in a jar for a rainy day. Barry for US senate 08.
Oh and PS, change.

Hyperreal, I don't see your reply to my comment, however, let me say this-- to get the Dems in Office will require all the Young (and white) hip people to register and vote, not just sit on the couch; and Black, Hispanic, and reg'd Dems to come out and vote. Too often people just want to sit and be bystanders. We must be activists and go to the polls.

I agree with you that we need to be activists. That's always been the case.
Volunteer - Contribute - Vote.
This is going to be a close race. Every little bit counts.

This is scary. And you know what? (Wh) America will vote him in.

I don't think so. Not this year. No matter what their prejudices or predispositions are, America is fed up with Bush and they don't want another 4 years of his rule under McSame.

I think you misunderestimate the stupidity of the American voter.

Not after the 2004 election I definitely don't underestimate the stupidity of the American voter, but think that's changing. The internet is the main source of information now not those brainless tv talking heads that fill our brains full of garbage. We're also becoming a little more savvy to these republican marketing tricks after seeing them rolled out over and over again a thousand times.
Something is different about this year.
