  • I think it is because he's younger, and he grows up into his "The Dark Knight Returns" self when he looses his selfishness.

It had soil for long-term character development.

  • i half agree with you. i was thinking that while reading but the further i went along t seemed like this allstar batman enjoyed the thrill of beating up bad guys rather then saveing lives. i cant put my finger on it but i can belive that he grows into the role.

  • As far as I know All-Star exists in it's own universe (not part of Dark Knight). Miller was a great writer, but lost it. You said it yourself "it doesn't feel like Batman". I think he wrote to piss people off, not for any story he wanted to tell. Compare this to Morrison's All-Star Superman.

Jim Lee's was wasted on this. It is the equivilant of a Michael Bay movie, lots of action and explosions but ultimately forgettable. There is no resonance like in DKR or B:YO.

  • i not sure. i remember hearing frank miller say that this is part of the dark knight returns universe and alot of sites supports this.

  • have you ever reviewed batman other realms yet, i remeber seeing it in your timeline list but i cant find your actual review of it

  • yes i did

  • to me he dint feel lyk "the dark knight returns" batman til near the end

  • @DannyPhantomBeast You are 110% correct. I didn't see the connection until now. However, Batman is the yellow B@stard because he paints himself yellow in the story. You are still a genius because I would have never remembered that foolhardy yellow paint bit in relation to Sin City, if you didn't make the comparision. Thanks.

  • Side note, the milk carton is in METROPOLIS and it's completely irrelevant to the fact that apparently Superman bought this earlier, like a day ago since it's in his fridge. I actually don't quite know the map system the DC universe has in place for it's superhero version of America, but again, it would take more time then 15 hours to have all of this publically shown.

  • I think Frank Miller waaaaaaaaaayyyy surpassed his "neo-castleblanca" phase a long time ago. Now the chicks are all eye-candy and co-dependant for some odd reason to Batman. Whereas in Sin City, we had short, terse excerpts that made it awesome, slick, and quite an original piece. What's your opinion on this? Has Franky been trolling us the entire time or is he the Charlie Sheen of the comic book world... ?

  • Also wasn't there a plothole in Allstars Batman 4 (read it first before listening to Linkara's exposition) that said in the newspapers that Robin was kidnapped aswell as the milk box displaying him missing to which Superman heat-visioned and smashed respectively while the caption says it's 15 hours ago after only one hour or day had past between Batman and his kidnapping? Even with all the criminals framing Batman, wouldn't it atleast take two days for this to even be seen publically?

  • I think Linkara said it best when he dubbed this homicidal, kidnapping, possibly kiled Robin's original parents or orchestrated the killing seeing how he did so much research before hand it says in a blurb, almost fanaticist mindset when talkng about "holy wars", cursing, total parellel to whatever batman was in the past as the "Crazy Steve" hobo who stole all of Batman's stuff.

  • I totally n'joyed the comic... "badassery" at its peak.. n batman was quite hillarious n I guess there's nothing bad in going all out for a while , we dont have to be serious about evrything !!

  • holy shit molotovs and slapping robin around i have to get this

  • I loved this comic, but at times Batman seems like a prick

  • it was already known that frank miller did not like Robin, so I dont know why DC would get frank to do it. plus I heard DC wanted to sue frank for this comic for ruining this story. I loved jim Lees artwork but hated the storyline. one thing I hated was the death of Graysons parents felt it was rushed plus the retarded sniper shot. I hated it and im glad they dont go any further. I like frank miller but I didnt like this story I recomend dont buy it
