@kingfish196 Actually, the NL had four pennant playoffs between 1903 and 1968. The "forgotten" one happened in 1959...and the Dodgers won that! They celebrated their second season in Los Angeles by dethroning the then Milwaukee Braves, 2 games to 0.
you lose a lot of credibility by calling it the 1951 National League Championship Series. It was a 3 game playoff that only occurred because the 2 teams were tied at season's end because Brooklyn blew a 13 1/2 game lead midseason to the Giants (also worth mentioning there). The ALCS and NLCS didn't start until 1969. The idea of there being one in 51 is kind of funny.
I had no idea game 6 of the World Series that year was so suspenseful though, so good job on that. btw I'd say its EYE-vers.
When you go to 39 World Series you're bound to lose a few. We'll all be playing Baseball in heaven by the time any team catches up to the Yankees. The Yankees also won 4 more American League Championships in a row and two more World Series after 1960. And the Pirates? LOL! Between 1960-1979 the Yankees would win 8 League Championships to the Pirates 2. Also 4 World Series to the Pirates 2. Phil Rizutto was also there to say Holy Cow for those 8 League Championships as well.
Hey, Anybody remember when Bill Mazorouski, Pittsburgh Pirates Clobered "The Yankees in the 1960 World Series, at "Forbes Field in Pittsburgh, Pa? "The Bill Mazorouski Homerun".
Yankees lost the 1960 World Series. "Holy Cow" by Phil Rizutto, and "How About that" by
Mel Allen. Now that was a Ballantine Beer Blast. Do you agree "Yankee Fans"? RETURN TO "FORBES FIELD". Yogi Berra can tell you about that World Series at Forbes Field in Pittsburgh back in 1960. Let's talk about that World Series.
I'm a real oldtmer baseball fan I mentioned that I was in the kindergarten with Steve Ridzik of Yonkers NY While looking at the Polo Grounds My first Basenall game was between the N Y Giants [ MEL OTT]and the Boston Bees now the Atlanta Braves We had a trivia question Who is able to sign the most autographs in an hour > Answer MELL OTT
