@calebc789 yes, the the games is loosely based on this movie. witch itself is based on the novel "roadside picnic". After the Chernobyl explotion, the people that worked in the exlution zone called themself "Stalkers" as a referance to the movie, kinda like a joke. and then it just became a term for anyone that trespasses into an area that is closed for the population.

Perhaps one of the most terrifying aspects of the "zone", is it's innate ability to expose the darkness in man's heart and cultivate it's wretched desires, allowing it to fester within the shuddering womb of their fragile minds and control their wary ambitions with casual ease. The "zone", in many regards, is a metaphysical symbol of humanity's incessant faults; as unpleasant and as corrupt as the stagnant rust that permeates the very flesh of it's snarling environment.
