Mayo Clinic Dr. Bill Sandborn describes Crohn's disease and its symptoms. Dr. Sandborn also discusses diagnosis and treatment options for patients with Crohn's disease.
i have this already at age 17 I was told at the age of 16 that I had it, I have already lost my Gla Bladder due to this, is there any more organs that I can lose, and it seems that any food upset's my stomach even a little simple bite of a piece of food makes me sick no matter what type of food it is, if anyone can help me out with this problem it would be great, it's very embrassing that I get sick all the time around my gf and have to rush home due to this stupid disease.
@Greenspun76 I've heard stories about people curing cancer and Crohn's through diet and I've tried their diets and it has alleviated my Crohn symptoms. So how can you call me ignorant if I speak from experience? I've educated myself, I know what Crohn's Disease, and am much healthier now than I was injecting toxic drugs that can cause death, serious infections and/or make you go insane. Though I did it not through diet alone. I also used the herb: Cat's Claw cause the diet is very hard to do.
@socceric17 no it cant be cured with diet alone. my mother has had it her whole life 4 operations, one perferated bowl, and cronic pain and diarehia. she has tried diet, she has also tired every medication including remacaid. some times it is worse for other people to the point were diet can not cure them
I've had Crohn's for 26 years. This doctor is 100% right. There are some patients like me where Azathioprine fails and remicaid becomes less and less effective. BUt in my case, the old old salazopyrine is the only med that works. That mixed with entocort and methotrixate. However, I really look forward to the next Mabs available in the coming years. And he's right, having this since the mid 80s, I have seen the slow ride to a better future.
@CyborgNinja7 I recommend Cat's Claw because people with severe Crohn's usually can't get better by diet alone(though some can). There is lots of research on Cat's Claw. It's been used for centuries to treat gastrointestinal inflammation and digestive problems. It is also 100% safe unlike conventional medicine. So why would I not recommend something that is 100% safe and has worked amazing for me? If it worked for me then it's bound to work for someone else too.
@socceric17 You say all that and yet you recommend an anti-inflammatory medication. The simple fact of the matter is all you have to go on are selective anecdotes and no backed up research. If I'm going to recommend something for people who are severely ill, I'm going to be intelligent and responsible enough to make sure that there is _solid_ evidence that it works. A few selective testimonials isn't evidence.
@CyborgNinja7 Ironcladhero is not selling nonsense. He speaks the truth. I agree 100% with him. Crohn's Disease can be cured by diet alone. I have gotten so much better eating only meats, vegetables, and fruits. I would not recommend nuts and seeds until the inflammation is gone though. I understand your concern but the truth of the matter is drugs aren't the solution. Diet is. I would also recommend a herb called Cat's Claw. Cat's Claw is a powerful anti inflammatory herb and relaxes muscles.
@hiddenacrescamp I agree! Crohn's can be cured. I have gotten so much better by changing my diet to organic foods including raw milk! Any amount of pasteurized milk will instantly give me problems but raw milk, I can drink all day! One of the things that has saved me a lot is a herb called Cat's Claw. Works a million times better than any medication out there! Good work doing research yourself! Doctor's don't know everything.
@Greenspun76 Well I personally think that Crohn's Disease is caused by Candida fungus and if you starve the Candida fungus by changing your diet, then theoretically you should get cured. Though the diet is almost impossible to follow, I have heard of one instance where they did cure Crohn's Disease with the diet over a course of 2+ years but because it wasn't done in an experimental environment, they can't confirm it. However, it is confirmed that the diet does relieve problems with Crohn's.
Crohn's disease causes ulcers and inflamation in the digestive system, It is caused by your own immune system attacking your digestive system. How do you think eating is going to change that? Diet can help crohn's, saying diet can cure crohn's is as ignorant as saying diet can cure cancer, it's just not true. Educate yourself, talk to others with crohn's, try different things, figure out what works best for you, and take care.
