Just to think that such things really happened, that people really died this way, that there really are ships of all kinds and ages lying on the ocean floor, sunk because people who were not so very different from each other were made to perceive each other as enemies! In what world do we live? Never, never, never must this happen again!

I shiver. The heavy minor strings without a trace of happiness, and then, an undescribable minor lift followed by a major hope that holds on as long as it can, only to give way to the rising minor again, but does not give up.

And so the bass begins its hunt for the tempo.

All this sorrow, and still parts like 1:23 when the gliding major strikes makes this piece of art complete.

Without the memories from the psycologically and physically deep movie though it would not be the same.

Sehr geehrter Klaus Doldinger, ich finde es großartig, daß du junge Musiker unterstützt und auch, daß du bereit warst dich heute mit uns zu unterhalten; allerdings wage ich stark zu bezweifeln, daß du dir deine heute in München geäußerten Worte (sinngemäß: "Man darf die Zensur des Internets nicht verbieten, solange es Künstlern hilft!") überhaupt bewußt warst, grade im Lichte des sogenannten "Arabischen Frühlings" - denke da bitte nochmal drüber nach!

@SarahPsalm4012 My late mothers father was killed by a u-boat ( he was aboard the SS City Of Benares, torpedoed by U48), a year later her mother was killed in an air-raid in Hull, yet when this came on tv in the UK she loved it and said she felt no hatred to the German forces at all, just sad at the loss of her loved ones at such an early age.
