Danish intelligence services investigating the attack on Kurt Westergaard, a cartoonist whose 2005 drawings of Prophet Muhammad sparked outrage, have said the suspect was already under surveillance.

The Somali, whose name has been withheld as part of Danish privacy laws, is believed to have had links with Al Qaeda, and had previously been arrested while in Kenya in connection with a bomb plot.

Now the local Somali population is fearing a backlash over the incident.

Nazanine Moshiri reports from Copenhagen, Denmark.
