So getting rid of Thames was a Tory conspiracy? It doesn't surprise me, I wouldn't put anything past that woman.

Morrissey's "Glamorous Glue" is the perfect choice of song there at the end.
Because London really was dead once C***ton set their foot in - and before long the rest of the ITV network was also dead...

@rachel7000rf Carlton may have bidded more than Thames but Carlton wasn't the higgest bidder for London weekend, I think it was CPV-TV which bidded £2 million more but their business plan wasn't up to scratch. According to the ITC, both Thames and Carlton submitted good plans and it went down to how much they bidded.

The 1990 Broadcasting Act was very much in line with the Thatcher policies of the time - ie deregulation. It was not about a personal vendetta against Thames.

The tories sticking their noses in where its not wanted AS PER USUAL!
Almost makes me support Labour's outright complacency...
ANYWAY excellent series mate, consider yourself subbed :)
Why the hell did the ITC get rid of Thames who had many great shows for Carlton who are still and were always absolutely rubbish
