Give me tiger's "short and mental game" and give me Hogan's Ballstriking capabilities. Tiger sprays 2-3 drives a round when his "timing" is GREAT! Hogan didn't need timing because he had a rotational swing. The sooner TIger finds a coach that will teach him to hit a golf ball with rotation of the body and just letting the clubface square on its own and not manipulating the clubface into impact the sooner he will be absolutely untouchable.
To arni mcdeusch: Quote"Hogan thought that an individual's golf swing was "in the dirt" and that mastering it required plenty of practice and repetition."
To "arnie" strong grip hooker dummy: Look at the BEST faders and what do you see - weaker grip - fade.. THis aint 1966 - all pros see knuckles - but the faders are more neutral. Look at Vijay, neutral left hand, Tigers Driver fade again neutral LH grip. Seeing 3/3.5 knuckles is old school geezer stuff...Every pro will tell you the ave golfer will hit a bannana all day wilth Hogans swing until they groove it for 10 years. GL with that.
i wouldnt call us hogan groupies, id call this haney groupies. hogan was flat and shut...u add a solid wrist set with good club face rotation "under the shelf" and u have tiger, immelman, Kim, o'hair's new swing. u two planers have fun shallowing out the club and having consistent rotation through the ball!
Irasile, you are appearing as a relative rookie in the golfswing knowledge area. First off, the OVERWHELMING MAJORITY of those tour players with strong grips fade the ball. Hogan WAS NOT reffering to practice when he said the secret is in the dirt. The folks on here who are bagging on Hogans swing do not realize the dynamics he produced. I was a bit of a Hogan basher myself till I began actually studying and understanding the mechanics he used to produce the dynamics in his swing.
i dont like the closing off of the right toe..john daly teaches to open the right toe up slightly to PROMOTE bigger hip turn more coil and a longer drive...try it yourself..opening the right foot slightly allows for much better rotation
I'm saying... Kims swing is 3x better to copy. Hogan (technically speaking) is 3 wrongs to make a right. Got a spare 20 years? Try getting Hogans swing.
PS MR "Pinnick" guy: All Pros have great grips for their swing these days. Weak for a fade - strong for a draw. "Blockers" are gone.
