"I don't know," I shrugged, looking at a strand of her hair.

Please don't push the subject, Selena. Please?

"How come I don't believe that?" she giggled, "Have you been ready those Daddy for Dummies books?"

"Yeah," my laugh came out more as a nervous chuckle, "You got me."

"You're so adorable, Nick," her arms wrapped around my neck tightly and pulled me down, "I'm sure youre going to be a great father."

"I hope so, Baby," I bit my lip as my face nestled into the warmth of her neck. I could feel her finger twirling one of my curls around it. The sensation brought an immense feeling of sleepiness over me. "Babe," I pulled away from the pleasant sensation, "I'm going to get you something to eat. Feed my child," I smirked.

"But we're not hungry," she laughed.

"Yeah right! You were all over those cookies," I chuckled as I raised out of bed.

"But, Nick!" she whined. Too late, I was already out of the bedroom and heading into the kitchen. I looked through her refrigerator for something the slightest bit healthy for her. After rummaging behind packs of pudding and cartons of left over Chinese, I found a package of yogurt and some plums. I quickly grabbed them and a spoon and headed back to an awaiting Selena.

"I'm really not hungry, Nick," she pouted.

"I don't care," my brows arched high as I retorted.

Her hands angrily grabbed the plum and yogurt and placed them on her bed. She ripped off the aluminum cover from the yogurt and grimace down at its creamy contents, "Please don't make me eat this, Nick."

"Eat it, Sel," I sat down next to her and egged her on.

"It looks disgusting," she frowned.

"But it's good for you."

She scooped a spoonful of slightly pink yogurt out of its cup and hesitantly pushed the spoon against her lips. She wretched forward and I snapped the spoon out of her hand. Her now free hand moved over her mouth, trying to control the overwhelming urge to vomit.

"Okay! I'm sorry," I bit my lip guiltily.

"Get it away from me!" she wretched again.

"Okay, okay!" I grabbed the yogurt cup out of her hand and placed it on her dresser that was on the other side of the room. I waited with the back of my thighs pressed against the dresser for her to calm down. She sure as hell was going to be throwing up on me.

She finally lowered her hand and moved towards the edge of the bed. Her tiny feet pressed against the hardwood floor as she sat there with her eyes planted on her knees.

"Are you okay?"

"Yeah," she nodded softly.

I crept forward cautiously until I reached her. My body lowered onto my knees in front of her as my palms pressed against her soft cheeks. "I'm sorry," I breathed, meeting her chocolate eyes. "I didn't know it was going to get you like that."

"It's fine, Nick," she comforted me. The softness of her warm hand moved against my cheek, letting me dwell in her loving kindness.

"I'm trying, Sel," I pleaded. She stared into my rounded orbs of coffee, her eyes soft and understanding.

"I know, Baby," she nodded.

"I don't want to let you down."

"I know," she nodded again.

"I just want to make this whole thing easier for you."

"You are, Nick...just by being here," she smiled sweetly at me. I watched her lips as they neared mine, leaving an innocent peck on my lips.

Guilt.
Guilt.
Guilt.
Dammit.

"Baby," I sighed, pulling my eyes away from hers, "I need to tell you something." I couldn't look up at her. It was just to hard for me to do so. "When Hayden died, she was pregnant."

Silence.
