He was a man of vibrant autumn leaves, starlit nights, mountains with fresh powder, and all the beauty of nature.

We love you Dan. Peace.

"Where is the wisdom to bring back the vision we've lost
Can we gaze with the wonder of children into the deafening night
Has it gotten so dark that we cannot remember the light

When you sleep on the ground with the stars in your face
You can feel the full length of the beauty and grace
In the wild places man is an unwelcome guest
But it's here that i'm found and it's here i feel blessed"

  • anybody heard a cover by a band named

fool's gold ? (they did other DF numbers as well)they they made a good job but the original is unmatched

  • I have! They opened for DF several times. I actually have an album of theirs!

  • Molly's is in Forest Park in Illinois, west of Chicago. Maybe only 3 miles.

  • Too bad you are so far away! In CT. Film it if you can and post it!

  • Thanks for everyone visiting this site! It's fall and it's time for this song....I wish I had time to fix the video...miss Dan and just came back from CO and have been listening to John Denver too...hard to believe Dan is gone - listened to Netherlands while in the Rockies

    Peace

  • What a memory! I used to do this song about 25 years ago. Talked with a fellow guitar player at Fitzgerald's in Berwyn last Thursday, Turns out we ar4e both fans. End result: I'll be performing this song next Sunday at Molly's.

  • Gee, where is that?

  • As Jackson Browne said about him "Dan Fogelberg is an Angel" That is so true. No one but an angel could write and sing the lyrics and songs that he does. Such an incredible man.

  • @willow041 me too. i wanted to look up that song, but found this one.. cant find it on YT.. ):

  • I played this song at a pub at a place called Tingoora not to far from where I live. I won some money, but I must say I did not deserve it, after listening to this brilliant artist.

  • @fallman74 Thank YOU, fallman!

  • @fallman74 Dan and John they are both great singers and songwriters all the time.

  • willow041 & fallman74 - Fools Gold actually has two albums (both GREAT). You should seriously consider picking them up!

  • Fools Gold was a band that backed up Dan. You can hear Dan and FG around YT land. It's generally under Ebbetts Field. A live performance that was recorded. I had the fortunate to download when they rebroadcasted it after 35 years. Dan introduces FG as his band. It would make total sense that they do Fogelberg! This is one of my favorite songs from Captured Angel, Dan performed this live which is one the Greetings From the West CD, 1990, the best live performance of this song.

  • I went and saw Dan play in Houston a couple of times in the 70's and once in Austin at the Backyard in 80's. Fools Gold opened and backed Dan up in the late 70's. That was the best concert. He was more acoustic than electric and they added electic to the show, I enjoyed that show a lot.
