Two years ago, the city of Drake experienced a major blow to their small rural community, when a Main Street fire damaged the town's grocery store and forced its owners to close.
Today, local residents and representatives from the US Department of Agriculture gathered for a grand opening of the new D & M Family Market.
The store's construction was made possible, in large part, through a USDA Rural Business Enterprise Grant, providing 185 thousand dollars for the community-owned business.
USDA Rural Development State Director, Jasper Schneider, says it's great to see smaller communities, like Drake, taking advantage of the program, and showing others the continued value of rural North Dakota.
