This is a quick how to do-it-yourself project, making a super simple, functional and cheap enclosure for emerging bugs (butterflies, moths and other insects) out of everyday items.
It seems like a no-brainer, but many people kill their insects by placing them into containers where too much heat or moisture build up.
Besides the obvious escape-proof nature of an enclosure, it's most important to regulate temperature and humidity. Ventillation is critical. Direct sunlight or too much heat in any container will kill insects pretty quickly, while any condensation or excessive moisture can cause disease and actually suffocate the insects because many of them breathe through little hairs/openings on their skin/exoskeletons.
Additionally, it's important to provide a container with easy-to-grip (for the bug) sides so the insect (buterflies and moths especially) can climb up into a hanging position to expand their wings properly. This container will work great for emerging most Lepidoptera and other insects.
I'll send you the links and some other info in mail :-)
