  • In spite of all the brilliant tenors of the world, I think Jussi will never be surpassed in terms of over-all singing quality. As you have heard there is something extra-ordinary going on. A warm vulnerability, beauty and POWER. Simply the best :)

  • The best I have ever heard of this aria. Thank you for posting it. I do not know why other tenors bother.

  • Jussi has set the standard for all times. I've been waiting for someone to emulate him for so long that I'm beginning to realise that day will never/ can never come.

  • It's hard to imagine a finer rendition....thanks always.

  • This is my favorite recording of his two studio records of the aria. This is the early one when his voice was more lyric and flowed so easily, very beautiful. He never sang the opera but in smaller European houses he could have. He was basically a lyric spinto tenor. .

  • Fabulous. Wow. Chillingly beautiful. Wow.

  • En la paradoja humana encontramos los extremos. Me quedo con estos humanos soprendentes que nos abren una puerta la futuro. En efecto, no todo está perdido. tenemos una herencia grandiosa. Jussi es uno de ellos...

  • The pike is very much OK in the archipelago and other places like Lake Mälaren. Exciting stuff, if you know where to cast.

  • Thank you for the background information -- information that one can never get in books... By the way, what's the pike like in Stockholm these days?

  • Jussi was born with a naturally strong physique. Sometimes he would go to Stockholm harbour to challenge the stevedores for arm-wrestling. These salty characters, used to everyday manual labour, might have fancied their chances but could not overcome those shortish, power-packed arms.
