@zoso7889 Nicely put. I don't have a problem with religions, but I just don't want them to start encroaching upon my rights via the state. I can't stand their proselytizing; well except for Judaism which is not a religion that's guilty of converting people.

@disandthat I agree to a certain extent, but the thing with Judaism and Christianity etc is that we cant 'prove' what did or didnt happen at the time. But we know definitivley that L Ron Hubbard and Joseph Smith were science fiction writers and convicted conmen respectivley. And the Bible at least deals with places and people that are known to exist unlike Mormonism and scientology.

Plus you'd think that by the 20th century people had enough education to be suspicious of new cults.

@zoso7889 Why is Scientology a particularly bad religion? They all coocoo institutions Chritianity, Judaism and Islam and the Eastern religions too... At least Scientology is not 2000 years when people couldn't explain dreams; and so they thought "god" was communicating with them.
