There is nothing open about the Mormon church. It really isn't any different from Scientology. You don't learn the true teachings till you are in and paying tithes. Then you learn about Kolob, Adam-God, eternal progression, and the secret handshakes.

I love how there is such a spirited debate going on to a David Cross comedy video.

. . . what is Christian and what isn't. The "prophet" of the church Gordon B Hinckley himself even stated in a network news interview several years ago that they don't worship the same Christ as taught by traditional Christianity. So don't give me an 'excuse me' I am rather well versed in the true teachings taught by the mormon church. I could give you tons more but its hard when limited to 500 characters. Jai Bhagavan.

Or how about the Mormon teachings that man must do certain ordinances to be saved. For instance you can not have celestial glory unless you are married, tithe, go to the temple, hold the priesthood, etc... That is not Christian teaching that is Mormon style Christianity. Christians believe that we are saved through the grace of God. Real Christians also don't believe that they will become gods after they die. That belief is blasphemy to a Christian. I am not a Christian but I know. . .

Yes Mormons are very nice, upstanding, patriotic people. I am not saying that they aren't. I have no problem with Mormons it is Mormonism that I have a problem with. One example is Joseph Smith taught that no one how ever lived was as important as himself. He is more important than even Christ himself. A christian would say that Christ is more important and his death makes it possible for all men to be saved. I'm not a Christian I don't believe that shit but Mormonism is not Christianity.

Excuse me, but what is your basis on saying it is less christian over time?

My childhood best friend, whom I've spent considerable amount of time with and in the church simply to hang out, has a great family and friend base who don't do drugs alcohol or really even do anything wrong ever. They've landed me jobs. I've gone on extended trips and many church visits with these people and never hasany of this come up. I have my own Quad and read the scripture.

I grew up an atheist and am now Hindu.

Really? The missionaries are taught to teach only the "milk of the gospel" not the "meat." The missionaries give the sanitized Mormon doctrine that the church like the world to see. There is nothing about Adam-God, Blood Atonement, and one of the core beliefs of Mormonism, attaining godhood or celestial glory, is glossed over. Mormonism from the missionary lessons sort of seems like Christianity however the longer you stay in it the less Christian it truly is.

    That's not true at all.

You learn first from missionaries, then they ask if you would like to be baptized.
