This is a one of a kind gas engine. Originally one of three built, this engine was a prototype to test the throttle governing principle on Leader engines made by Field Force pump co. Built during 1925, these 3 engines were to be used for a period of time and returned to the factory for teardown and inspection. This lone example escaped and is testament to the experiment. Within a few short years, Field was buying engines from outside sources for thier world famous "Ospraymo" line of orchard sraying equipment. the Leader line of engines was started in 1908 and continued through the early 1930's. the line of engines saw several design changes in those years.
