#14 - Sacrifice - Elton John - Live SOLO in Tokyo 2007

Happy New Year! I'm going to upload the first show in the new year. It's a double upload of Elton's solo concerts at the Budoukan, Tokyo. This is the first night (20th of November 2007) and is a rare bootleg I've been searching for for years. Thanks to Ralf, who is a really nice guy, I got this show. He sent them to me and I can't thank him enough for that!

This is one of the only recorded solo shows from 2007 (the 2nd night being the other recorded solo shom from 2007) and is one of the longest solo shows I've seen with 28 tracks. The quality of the recording is very good bright and clear so that you can hear everything. First noticeable moment in the show is that Elton dedicates the show to his friend and clothes designer, Yohji Yamamoto, whose dedication can be heard after Your Song. Elton voice has become deeper and deeper with the years and he usually has a great and powerful voice. In this show Elton unfortunately has a quite rough voice which can be heard on several songs (Honky Cat being a prime example). Also, Elton seems a bit unstable on the piano and he makes a fair few mistakes on The Greatest Discovery.
But there are also great things about this show. A fantastic version of Border Song with an interesting phrasing on the "Holy Moses" part and also on the "He's My Broher" part. Another great thing about this show is that we have (together with the 2nd night) the only recorded solo version of Electricity from the musical Billy Elliot. A great solo version of Take Me To The Pilot with Elton going mental on the piano. Fantastic and quite fast version of Bennie And The Jets and a great solo version of I'm Still Standing. I Need You To Turn To, Philadelphia Freedom, Ticking, and Nikita are also great performances from this show.
