  • Really nice to hear someone else validate the Raiders place as a legitimate band. I've said it for years.

I dislike it when musicologists seem to trivialize & semi- fans apologize for the Raiders costumes and stage antics. That's what made them special, in addition to the great tunes. Combining a distinct visual appearance, stage antics (including synchronized dance steps ala The Shadows), and everyone in the band just smiling & having fun made them GREAT. It's called being entertaining.

  • You know, the more I hear about Dick Clark having great rock n' roll footage of the past pulled because he own the copyright, the more pissed off I get. I used to have a lot of respect for him, but now he's a greedy 'ol SOB who wants to sit on his old Bandstand archives and not share any of it with anyone. Hope he's happy.

  • I'm the dork talking in this, and I'm totally pulling stuff out of my ass with this. And I was pretty looped. I am not an expert on the Raiders, better off going to wikipedia. I do know the raiders were awesome and the NW had a very hard rock scene in the early sixties that predates "garage rock".

As for the comments calling me homo and asking how many stages I've rocked? I've rocked plenty, and what's wrong with being a homo? It was good enough for Dee Dee Ramone.

  • I remember watching that show and I loved the Raiders and I remember the commercials they did many!! They were underated and I think they were one of the top bands in the 60's but like the Monkeys they never got thier respect and ligitimacy. Just listen to thier hits, they were artist period and inovators. True American cultural icons! and screw Dick Clark! Selfish bastard!

  • @BigAlum sorry dude, but that isn't true. I saw that show. the Raiders were good but the Stones were top billing. Patti LaBelle, Bo Diddley, the Byrds, Paul Revere and the Raiders and the Rolling Stones i still have the concert boolket I took three other people and total ticiket cost was $26 6..50 or $ 6 a ticket a bargain either way. but the girls' screaming was very annoying

  • @jazzbo89 I love their outfits. I think they are unique and every band needs something special to get recognized. :)

  • I grew up in the '60s listening to these guys here in the Pacific Northwest and they were THE BEST!!

Other GREAT Pacific NorthWest bands were Don and The Goodtimes, The Ventures, The Viceroys, The Wailers, The Sonics, The Beachcombers and of course The Kingsmen!!! Great "Garage Band" sounds!!! I (like namy other guys back then) was in a local (high school) rock band and we ALWAYS tried to coply their style....

THANKS FOR THE MEMORIES......ALL YOU BANDS!!!

  • Just came back in December 2010....Paul and his band of 36 years are still great, so tight, and chorographed. Paul is 70 and still very 'witty' as ever. Great 2 hour show in the Andy Williams theatre.

  • Love the GTO commercial

  • @birdmanofbooze Definitely long-winded, and definitely a fruitcake. You are very perceptive.

  • This guy is a long winded HOMO..PRand the R rule
