  • What year was it when Berliner philharmoniker aloud women to play? Its seems here it just one girl.

  • @Zerlina12 There has never been an actual rule against female musicians in the orchestra. It was violinist Madeleine Carruzzo who became the first woman member of the Berliner Philharmoniker in 1982 (you can see her in this video at 1:33).

  • What is the name of the gentleman sitting next to the principal 2nd violin and which years did he serve in the orchestra? I thank you for your responses!

  • @winrx It is Hanns-Joachim Westphal, who played in in the orchestra for incredible 50 years, from 1951 to 2001.

  • @BerlinPhil is he the same one with the lucerne festival orchestra?

  • @nfamiliar Yes, he is.

  • Thanks for posting this, amazing brass at 1:00 :)

  • Excellent.La meilleur version pour moi avec le Los Angeles philarmonique dans un direct disk que je posséde dirigé par Erich Leinsdorf

  • Oh christ I'm sick of people posting a million versions of Dance of The Knights- this great score has about one and a half hours of OTHER fantastic music in it too! Same with the symphonies- get over the bloody 'classical' symphony #1.

  • hmmmm... among all these videos you have I didn't notice any with Karajan...

  • @jaycarstens

  • finally a video to rival that of the LSO's!

  • compare this bit with the old B&W RAI recording also with the young Abbado as the conductor

  • the brass starting 1:00~ TRANSENDESCENT!!!!! Awesome!! dang, the trombones and tuba are amazing too

  • I love this music!♥
