I agreed with the floral, sweet, vanilla and spicy. Not so much petrol. Definitely smooth. Alcohol content I felt was too harsh on the nose. Overall good, but not very interesting taste-wise.
Oh ok, sorry, I just got that info from the net. the only Glenmorangie I've tasted is the 10 year old which i found rather too weak and boring, to be honest. You're right on paper the QR seems impressive, but maybe its one to avoid...
Nope... It's VERY different. I have both now and can attest. the QR kinda sucks compared to the PWF... but the "specs on paper" look better on the QR. the QR have more alchohal and isn't chill-filtered... however I find it a tad sour and less full and leathery like the old PWF.
Review the nectar d'or for me its like walking into a french pastry bakery.mmmmm

Ross-Shire is the area of Scotland where the distillery is.

Have you compared this to their discontinued Port Wood Finish? Just curious.

Aberdeen street market at christmas sells carvings from whisky casks - so you can have a fragrant room all year round. Well worth a buy.
