Ralph iz stupid

Why was "a happy woman is a woman who grins" cut out? I saw the episode several times on TV and heard that line. I remember how much I laughed at her crazy grin the first time I watched it
-
I always wondered how when the lit candles fell, it didn't cause a fire.

One definition of "genius" is that you can watch a performance 100 times, and on Time #101, you laugh as hard and long as you did the first time. This defines Jackie Gleason. When he gets to "Oh, I'll tell you what it is!" I'm on the floor - for the 101st time. Thank heaven he was on television - and that these performances got recorded so later generations can appreciate this genius.

Jackie had no direct input in the writing, 'truvianni'. He hed three teams of writers who were responsible for the half-hour episodes: Marvin Marx & Walter Stone [they wrote this one], A.J. Russell & Herb Finn, and Leonard Stern {who recently passed away, at age 88} & Syd Zelinka.
You cut the best line:
How'd you like some fingers in your nose!

From 5:48 - This is the definition of a true marriage: Alice is fed up with what Ralph is doing, so she threatens to leave, and he blows it off. But when the snow starts falling, she sticks by her husband. And to do right by her, Ralph relents and goes back to pay the rent. For all the insults and "to the moon, Alice," the characters love each other deeply, and each is ready to sacrifice for the other.
