It's ironic too because Bear Stearns was even warned of the housing bubble during a compelling presentation by a person that saw it coming and bet against the mortgage market. They still didn't believe that housing prices would ever depreciate since historically, they never had before the financial crisis. They bet the farm and they lost everything and then some as a result.
