  • Awesome track, thanks for posting. As for the Nugent comments, one should put it in context. I know Ted comes off as a rightwing loudmouth, but he was saying this because he felt like Phil wasted his talent and the years of songwriting/performing that were never going to happen because of drugs. Ted never was one to take kindly to drugs of any sort. Just sharing what I've read about this rather tasteless (but vintage Nugent) comment. I consider Phil one of the best, ever!

  • Then just say that. You don't say that you want to piss on someone's grave when the body is still warm in the ground.

And just because Nugent makes those comments with some regularity, doesn't make it acceptable.

  • Brian Downey - one of the greatest drummers in musical history, this guy puts most of today's so-called "drummers" to shame!!!

  • Great song!!!One of my all time favs from Lizzy!!!!Lyrical content on this song is unsurpassed by any other song I've ever heard.

  • @kkiimbel If I could match Downey's performance of Bad Reputation I'd die a happy man

  • @666sigma I agree with your comments concerning Brian Downey but have you never heard of Lizzy's original guitarist Eric Bell ?He played on the first three Lizzy albums and was their most experimental player.

  • @1jackiea The original line-up was Phil, Brian D and Eric Bell .They made three interesting albums before the Gorham/Robertson line-up.On these albums Phil's vocals and poetic ,often personal , lyrics are some of his very best ,Downey was a revelation on drums and Eric played the most experimental guitar of any of their guitarists. The most accessible of these albums is probably 'Vagabonds of the Western World' but there is a gem of a song on their first album called 'Eire' ;check them out .

I am an American and I loved Lizzy FROM Jailbreak. I loved Phil and all four guitar combos. Robbo was great and he and Scott meshed like nobody's business. Gary was on his way to greatness. Scott got better. Snowy got a bad rap. And Sykes restored their lost aggression (from drugs, not Snowy).

However, I never appreciated BRIAN DOWNEY until I got older. I listen to Thin Lizzy songs today and I realize THIS GUY IS ONE OF THE BEST ROCK DRUMMERS EVER. EVER. He is perfect.

  • Original line up, THE BEST !

  • @chosenfool I might buy it but as I said his glory days are long gone.

  • @grumpyoldgitt Robbo has a new cd out called Diamonds And Dirt and it's very Lizzyesque, especially the three Lizzy songs he does! Ha ha!! Seriously, it's got that totally bluesy, funky, 70s rock thing that helped make the classic Lizzy line-up so damn great. The singer is Leif Sundin, who has worked w/ Michael Schenker and John Norum, as well as his own band, Great King Rat. I believe he's the perfect singer for the material. Anyone who likes Robbo should buy the cd!!!

  • @blacksabfan You bring up an excellent point Blacksabfan, Nugent couldn't touch any of Lizzie's guitarists talentwise.... Fuck him! I lost all respect for him after such a thoughtless comment....

  • Damn, this kind of beats out the album version from a pure energy standpoint. The riffs come out harder on this one...

    :-)
