Flash Flooding in Beaufort
12/01/11 - Pratt / High Street
4 inches of rain in a day, flash flooded creeks and drains in Beaufort and threatened to inundate low lying houses nearby.
This water will drain over the next few hours, but with more heavy rain forecast for the next few days, it is likely that this area will flood again.
The water across this road wasn't too deep, but I was not prepared to take any stupid risks.
Photos were taken earlier in the day. Video shot with the aid of a vehicle mount.
EDIT: 14/1/11
Two days after this video was shot, the town of Beaufort suffered the worst flooding in living memory.
This area was once again under water, as well as other parts of town after the dam wall at the Beaufort Lake was breached and the water ran down.
The water inundated the town forcing the evacuation of 70 people and blocking many streets including the Western Highway.
