Representative democracy just allows for open entry in to the position of kingship, it did not abolish the ruling class. Instead of just being born in to the ruling class by hereditary chance, one must now compete against others in the political process to see who is the best liar, best manipulator, and who can suck off the most special interest groups. There are no limitations on governments today, the facade of democracy has only emboldened the ruling class to expand at the expense of society
