@Stefano94x Your ignorance forces me to respond, yet again. The Grammy board members have all to do with music in every aspect. Music theory plays a role in how they determine who gets nominated + sound scan + the overall success of any given artists (which plays the MAIN part). This is why you often have "no namers" winning awards. People with great technique and skills win too, genius. It's just your luck that you're talking all this shit to a Music Industry & Theory guru. :-/

@Stefano94x (3) ...and lastly, there are many hit singers who use false cords. They're pop singers: Ashanti, Minnie Ripperton, Deniece Williams, Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Erykah Badu and of course, the star of the neck-singing subject, Beyonce. Even the great and talented Mariah Carey uses it sometimes (as in "Touch My Body": "...if it's a camera up in here then it's gone leave with me when I DO). She squeezes her larynx (creating the bellows) only on the word "DO".
-
@Stefano94x (2) Now that you can debate with someone who knows much about it: the process of producing powerful sound works just like a bellows. The stronger the larynx (ability to hold air pressure), the longer it takes to run out of breath. That's why Whitney can hold prolonged powerful notes and Beyonce cannot. Whitney has excellent air control and only uses her larynx to hold back the air. Beyonce uses the false cords (the reason her voice sounds so thin like a chipmunk at times).

@Stefano94x Here's vocal theory (fact), Beyonce uses her FALSE vocal cords (neck singing). Neck singers can't hold notes for more than a few seconds. Beyonce NEVER holds for even 5 seconds (poor). It's simple if using the true cords in the larynx. The larynx, once shut, (just like when holding your breath) can powerfully let out rich sound for over 30 secs (with practice).Opera singers do it all the time. Whitney, ending "I Will Always Love You" also does it, rarely taking breaths.

Whitney Houston is the definition of a real singer. In the new dictionary, there should be a nice headshot of Whitney next to the definition for "Singer: 1. A person who sings professionally (ie. Whitney Houston -picture) 2. A person who can hold a single note for at least 10 seconds without falling off key (Whitney)". Whoever didn't know it or forgot it needs to attend one of her rare recent live performances. All that crap about her not being able to sing her own songs needs to be put to rest.

she sounds really good!

@Alberto9871 Because thinking of vocal longevity as an indicator of great technique is not only a very basic logic, but it's also plain wrong. Plus, you're acting like you know what are you talking about - when you don't.

No one come's close to Whitney. You can put all three together, Whitney, Beyonce, and Jennifer Hudson and Whitney stand above and beyond the rest.
