Drawing on their respective backgrounds, the artists have created a space where, behind the banality of a store front setting, they evoke the atmosphere of a torture room, in which victims are held hostage, tortured, interrogated and in many cases brutally killed. The viewer may wish to contemplate methods of 'persuasion' utilized by the US government, in the 'war on terror'.
Romper Room was the name of a popular childrens' TV program in Northern Ireland during the 70s. Terrorists adopted this as a cynically comic name for a room in which they would torture and execute their victims during the worst days of the 'troubles'.
