After recording this song I did a little research and found that I was grossly wrong. John Denver did not write this song, it was written by John Phillips and popularized by the Grateful Dead. I was wrong, tell your kids. A great song either way, here for your personal betterment are the lyrics and chords:
Me and My Uncle Am
Me and my Uncle went ridin down C E
From Colorado, West Texas bound Am
We stopped over in Sante Fe
C E
Part of it being about half way
Am E Am
Besides it was the hottest part of the day
We led our ponies into the stall
Went to a bar boys bought drinks for all
Two days in the saddle, you know my body hurt
It being summer, I took off my shirt
And tried to wash off some of that dusty dirt
West Texas cowboys all over town
With gold and silver, they're loaded down
Just in from round up you know it seemed a shame
So my Uncle starts a friendly game
A hollow jack the winner takes the gain
From the beginning my Uncle started to win
Them Texas cowboys was as mad as sin
Some said he's cheatin', but that can't be
Because my Uncle, he's as honest as me
And I'm as honest as a gamblin man can be
One of them cowboys you know he started to draw
I grabbed a bottle, slapped him on the jaw
I had to shoot another, now he won't grow old
In the confusion, my Uncle grabbed the gold
And we hightailed it down to Mexico
INSTRUMENTAL VERSE
God bless cowboys, God bless gold
God bless my Uncle, God rest his soul
He taught me well Lord, taught me all I know
Taught me so well, that I grabbed the gold
Left his dead ass there on the side of the road
Great job at shutting up! :D You talked 30 seconds less than normal. That's always a plus! Well, great job and all that jazz. Oh, and this is Tina from summer camp.
