can someone please help me?

i connect the av cables to the dazzle and the component cables to my tv and i can see the game on the tv and can capture; the question is that if by using the component at the same time as the av am i losing video quality, because it looks quite bad honestly. is there a reason i should do this complicated method over the method i just described?
