SARASOTA REVOTE RALLY 2006 -"They Lost My Vote"

Over 750 people gather in Sarasota's Bayfront Park December 3, 2006 to call for a Revote in the hotly contested District 13 Congressional Race between Vern Buchanan and Christine Jennings.

18,412 votes disappeared in Sarasota County, giving Republican candidate Vern Buchanan the victory with a slim 369 vote margin. State officials, who certified the five-million dollar software, insist "there is no evidence" that ES&S's iVotronic machines malfunctioned on Election Day. Yet hundreds of voters, both Republican and Democrat, reported having numerous problems casting their ballots on November 7th.

The success of lawsuits demanding a revote and access to the source code of the iVotronic touch screen voting machines could be precedent setting for the rest of the nation. All concerned citizens should write Nancy Pelosi, the House Administration Committee members and the entire Florida congressional delegation immediately to urge the House NOT to seat Vern Buchanan (or to seat him CONDITIONALLY only) on January 4th. If he is seated, it will nullify the lawsuits in progress that could provide both the revote and needed access to the source code of the iVotronics. All states using paperless Direct Record Electronic voting machines need these lawsuits to succeed.

The Revote Rally was sponsored by Sarasota Alliance for Fair Elections (SAFE), Voter Action, Florida Fair Elections Coalition, People For the American Way Foundation, Common Cause, and the ACLU of Florida, together with other nonpartisan groups including VoteTrustUSA, the Electric Frontier Foundation, the Voting Integrity Alliance of Tampa Bay, the Broward Election Reform Coalition, the Miami-Dade Election Reform Coalition, and the Sarasota County NAACP.

Now more than ever, Voter Action, SAFE, and the Florida Fair Elections Coalition need and deserve our support as we brace for double lawsuits in Tallahassee and a further challenge to the Sarasota County charter amendment requiring voter verified paper ballots and mandatory audits of election results. It is our intention to circulate this video as much as possible to keep these important issues in the independent media spotlight for nationwide attention.

Take high resolution, closeup or "MACRO" photos of the ballot box. The tiny imperfections should give a "fingerprint".

If they're switching the boxes this could catch the crooks stealing our democracy.

Pre-focus your camera for a closeup at whatever distance your camera requires for "MACRO" mode. Put a string on the end of your camera to allow you to take the photo very quickly and still have it highly focused.

Let's make sure all of our votes count in 2008. Sarasota 2006 and missing 18,000 votes could happen again unless citizens speak out to Congress for hand counted paper ballots. Florida however still makes it hard to actually count the paper ballots. Recounts are mostly just rescanning the ballots. Floridians, please demand a change in the rules of your state to actually allow hand counting the paper ballots - not just rescanning. Thx for this video.

keep in mind the DA and attorney General might not see it as stealing votes as both do nothing. Fla needs outside people watching the whole thing. Again the DA and ESP the attorney General who I find particularly useless arent going to help the citizens. You cant take a camera and take pics in voting areas the beating the police will give you will be unreal lol and I understand why you cant . Flo needs more folks like me to write UN ,Dem party ask for outside help.
